Australia Study Visa Regulations have been revised, and a Simplified Student Visa Framework (SSVF) was introduced on July 1st, 2016, replacing the earlier rules. With effect from July 1st, 2016, every student who plans to pursue studies in Australia has to apply for an Australian Student Visa under Subclass 500 in conformity with the new visa regulations that were put in place through The Department of Immigration and Border Protection, which is the Australian Government. It is necessary to apply for and get an Australian student visa through Nigeria for those who wish to attend a university in Australia.
Because of these changes, Subclass 500 comprises subclasses 571 and 576. So, from July 1st, 2016, students who plan to apply to any sector must apply for a Student Visa under Subclass 500.
What steps are needed to apply for the Australian Study Visa?
If you have met all Australian student visa conditions you have completed all requirements for your study visa, you will follow these steps:
1. You can apply at any Australian university and receive a CoE
Inscribing or registering with an accredited Australian institution or school is the first step in seeking an Australian student visa. The institute sends an offer letter confirming the tuition fee receipt and acknowledging a student’s enrollment.
The institute provides an official CoE (Confirmation of Enrollment), an essential document needed to begin the visa application process. If an applicant is enrolled in several study programs, the programs must each require the submission of a CoE.
2. Create an account online
Applicants can apply for an Australian visa online, but they must create an account at https://online.immi.gov.au/lusc/register before beginning the application process.
The site asks for the applicant’s name, contact number, and email address. The user is directed to a page that asks to agree to all terms and create a secure password after filling in all the required information.
3. Apply online.
Visit the following website to apply for a student visa subclass 500: https://www.homeaffairs.gov.au/Trav/Visa-1/500-. The application process should be initiated at least 124 days before the beginning of the class (this date is noted within the CoE).
The applicant must fill in the details of his/her country of residence and COE code(s) on the initial page before choosing the education sector. The applicant then has to submit details regarding their family and responses to questions regarding their previous education or work experience, as well as evidence about the applicant’s health and, if relevant, any criminal history.
4. Apply online for a visa
A person applying for a visa must cover the cost of a 550 AUD visa fee once their application is submitted successfully. Once the application is approved, the Australian administration will issue the applicant a TRN (Transaction Reference Number), which can be used to monitor its status online.
5. Take part in an interview and take a Health Clearance report
The student will need to undergo an extensive health test based on the program they’ve selected and the location they will study in. Once the visa application has been made, the information needed will be collected.
So, since TRN numbers are required for the process to be completed, Only conduct health examinations after your appointment. To fill out the forms, the person applying must sign a consent form to undergo an examination with a licensed physician for medical reasons.
What is the estimated processing duration?
Applying for the Australian student visa (subclass 500) is possible when the applicant is accepted into the institution and has accepted their applications. It takes a few months to apply for a visa. - How quickly and effectively the applicant responds to questions for more information.
- The duration needed to complete additional necessary verifications of the data supplied to support the application.
- The right moment to get more information about matters of character, national security, and health from sources other than the official department.
- How many open positions are there in the migration program?
- The evidence and information the applicant submits when applying to determine whether or not to grant the visa request.
