Online dating can be scary.
While we don’t mean to suggest that online couples are fake, people do meet online and find better partners than in real life. However, the growing popularity of online dating is not idealistic.
Although it is fine to connect with others online, especially if you are looking for someone to date, this isn’t a great idea. Although it’s convenient and saves you a lot of time going out to socialize, it’s not the best idea.
These are six reasons we believe online dating is terrible.
Let’s face facts: more than half the profiles on dating or socializing sites are fake or created by liars looking to impress the person they are trying for.
Half of them will rip you off or waste your time. The other half won’t think about the future and are only interested in impressing. Both men and women tell lies about things that are likely to cause trust problems in the future, but they also lie about other things.
People are not disappointed by a low salary or a higher weight; it is their inability to lie that makes them turn away. Online dating can be very frustrating for people who are liars.
More men than women go on dates for sex. They only come to the date because they want sex. It doesn’t matter if your online dating profile falls under the “looking for something serious” category. They will ask you for coffee because you didn’t clearly state that you don’t have sex with first dates.
Imagine yourself excited to go on a date with someone you met online, only to find out that he wants to know when you are available. Imagine it.
It is known that women have had bad experiences with online sex-hunters, which has led many people to give up on dating the internet.
Your Pictures Don’t Look Like Yours:
People who lack patience and maturity will experience this as their biggest disappointment when they meet an online person in real life. Everyone is different, and so are their photos. This is the first rule of online dating: don’t expect everyone to have the same personality and face.
You don’t have to break the glass, so video chat before you meet face to face. It can save you time and make it less painful to hear someone say goodbye right after you said hello.
We create our online image of people and expect them to match it. When they aren’t, we sit back and take in our fate, as if their faces speak volumes about the connections they can make with other humans.
Long Distance Thing:
Imagine that you like a Canadian guy, but you don’t live in another state. It drives you crazy that you are unable to meet him. He seems perfect.
But how long will you be able to stay in a long-distance relationship? You must meet up. It is nearly impossible to keep up with each other’s lives without them meeting. What if they have an online friend who is just like you?
Imagine if they can’t reach their phones at all. Imagine the pain of knowing that someone so special exists, but is far away.
It’s Luck With Looks:
You can scroll through online dating sites looking for attractive women with interesting hobbies or tall men with high-salary careers. People with unique profiles and less than perfect profiles are rarely paid attention to.
As far as we can see, this culture values people who are attractive more than those who are funny. It also promotes materialism as well as lust. For a man with good abs and a passion for skiing, a guy with average looks and an average job will likely be overlooked.
A woman who is Angelina Jolie-like and enjoys shopping will be preferred to any woman who loves reading and humanitarian work.
This is not about us separating between different types of people. That is just the reality of dating websites. There are great matches on the internet. However, most of the time it is disappointing.
We Don’t Try To Be Ourselves:
This is the worst thing about online dating. Fear of not being good enough to a person with interesting hobbies leads us to fake our own self. It can make us feel insecure and it can lead to problems when we reveal our true selves.
We forget to realize that perfection is not the goal. Being the perfect date is just one of many things.
Online dating can also make us fear being alone as though there is no one else.
